Grounding

Connecting an AI model's outputs to verified, factual information sources.

Definition

Connecting an AI model's outputs to verified, factual information sources. A grounded response cites real data, documents, or observations rather than relying solely on patterns learned during training. RAG is one popular grounding technique. Reduces hallucinations and improves reliability.
