Machine Brief (operated by LXGIC Studios) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your data. We don't track you across the web. We keep things simple.
What We Collect
Email Address: If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. That's it. We don't ask for your name, phone number, or any other personal details.
Analytics Data: We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool. Plausible doesn't use cookies, doesn't collect personal data, and doesn't track you across sites. We see aggregate page views and referral sources, nothing that identifies you personally.
Local Storage and Cookies: We store a small number of preferences locally on your device, like your theme choice (light/dark mode), cookie consent status, and session flags for popups. These never leave your browser.
How We Use Your Information
- Newsletter Delivery: We use your email to send AI news updates and market analysis. That's the only reason we'll ever email you.
- Improving the Site: Plausible analytics help us understand which content people find useful so we can make Machine Brief better.
- Preferences: Local storage lets us remember your theme and consent choices between visits.
Cookies
We keep cookie usage to a minimum. Here's exactly what gets stored on your device:
- Theme Preference: Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode.
- Cookie Consent: Tracks whether you've accepted or dismissed the cookie banner so we don't keep showing it.
- Session Storage: Temporary flags for UI elements like popups and modals. Cleared when you close the tab.
We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. Plausible Analytics is cookieless by design.
Third-Party Services
Plausible Analytics: Privacy-first web analytics. No cookies, no personal data collection, fully GDPR compliant. Their privacy policy is at plausible.io/data-policy.
CoinGecko API: We pull real-time AI technology price data from CoinGecko. These requests happen server-side and don't expose your information to CoinGecko.
Alternative.me API: We fetch the AI Fear & Greed Index data from Alternative.me. Like CoinGecko, these are server-side requests that don't share your data.
Supabase: Stores newsletter subscriptions and manages our database. Your email is encrypted at rest on their servers.
Resend: Handles email delivery for our newsletter. They process your email address solely to deliver messages on our behalf.
Vercel: Hosts our website. They may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, browser type) for security and performance.
We Don't Sell Your Data
Period. We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your email address is used for our newsletter and nothing else. We don't run ads that track you. We don't have data broker partnerships. Your data stays between you and us.
GDPR Compliance
If you're in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Ask us to correct any inaccurate data.
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data. We'll remove your email from our database within 30 days.
- Right to Restrict Processing: Ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to Object: Object to our processing of your personal data at any time.
Our legal basis for processing your email is consent (you opted in to the newsletter). You can withdraw consent anytime by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or contacting us directly.

Your Rights
Regardless of where you live, you can always:
- Unsubscribe: Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. One click and you're out.
- Delete Your Data: Email us and we'll remove your information from our database.
- Access Your Data: Want to know what we have on you? Email us and we'll tell you. (Spoiler: it's just your email address.)
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Our database is hosted on Supabase with encryption at rest and in transit. The site is served over HTTPS. That said, no system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Machine Brief isn't intended for anyone under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we may notify newsletter subscribers via email.
